As I've raised numerous time (as have others) in the 'old forum' (why do we need a new one?), the GST/tax reporting in receipts is not working through the Online store. It is a LEGAL requirement in Australia to accurately display the amount of tax collected on items and total spend.
Please advise when this will be looked at. Your Customer Service have assured us in the past that all compliance requirements have been met in setting up the platform to work in Australia — the ATO and tax requirements beg to differ.
Hi @fandrews,
At the moment Square sellers are able to provide their online store customers with a tax invoice upon request from the Transactions section of Square Dashboard, as per ATO requirements.
I understand the frustration here and ideally we'd have a simpler and more automated solution than the one we're currently able to offer for online store transactions. I'll continue to advocate for this feature for Australian sellers and will update this thread when I hear of any changes to how this works.
I am adding my voice to this topic. Even though I have an inclusive GST of 10% enabled for all products sold via my website, the "Taxes included in item price (GST)" line on the auto-generated invoices is always a seemingly-random number that does not correspond with anything resembling 10% of the sales value.
It is embarrassing for us seller that Square allows this error to persist. Please fix this ASAP, or we will change platforms.
Hi @stumcm,
Based on what you've described, it seems you might be experiencing a genuine error with your Square account. If the tax line item shows an incorrect calculation, and you haven't made any changes to your tax settings, please contact our Support Team for further assistance.
I've ensured you'll be able to connect with our phone Support Team when calling 1800 760 137 from the number listed on your Square account. If you can't reach them by 5 PM today, our lines will reopen at 9 AM tomorrow.
Hi, Just wanting to know if there is any news about this issue being fixed ? I would like my online customers to receive a tax invoice/receipt automatically when orders are placed and paid for online.
No updates here, @FacePaintWA, although we continue to advocate for this request on behalf of our Australian Sellers. If there are any major changes to Square Online receipts or order confirmations, we'll be sure to make an announcement to all Sellers.
Hi,
I think the issue is that Square apparently lodge our sales to ATO for reporting purposes.
Square report how much GST we collected so we just need to make sure we report that number to ATO and I believe we’re fine.
if you go to dashboard and your phone, you can see Taxes and just report that.

Not even that works - the Square GST system is a complete mess it doesn't show up for online purchases on customer invoices, thinks every item is not taxed.
To confirm its 100% broken it doesn't register under the taxes report either
