We are going to use Square with an older Apple Mini I pad. Is there a minimum version requirement in order to work with Square? Will a more recent model be faster or does it matter?
it depends on what iPad mini you have if it will work. We currently use it with 3 iPad mini 2s. Currently Square requires iOS 11 or newer. so the oldest iPad mini you can use is the iPad mini 2. the original iPad mini stops at iOS 9.3.6.
Does the age of the I-pad impact the speed for processing transactions?
thank you.
Hi @ashourds! Age of the iPad can impact speed, as well as data usage and wifi connection. You'll want to make sure everything is in good shape for transactions to process smoothly!
Personally, I'd say the age of the iPad is most related to how fast the app launches. Once it is running I don't know that I can tell the difference between any of the versions of the app running on different iPads. Square isn't a limit-pushing game app but a fairly "simple" app that isn't pushing the limits of the hardware. One issue is that over time new features can be added to Square that requires certain versions of iOS to be running and you could get to the point that a "functioning" iPad can no longer meet the minimum requirements to runs Square. some of them are based on hardware, like the contactless reader needs a certain spec to connect to.
Can 2 squares be used at the same time? (Both linked to the same Square account)
@ashourds I'm not sure which two specific pieces of hardware you're referring to or if you mean on the same device.
You can be logged into the same account on multiple devices running payments.
