Does anyone know if we can connect Google Analytics to the free Square website plan?

When I look online people say that you can connect Google Analytics to the free plan of Square. Every time I attempt it says the web address ending in  square.site- is not valid and will not create the ID I need to set up the analytics to the website. I just need to know if I am doing something wrong or if my suspicions are right and that you can only use Google Analytics with a .com web address (which the free plan on Square doesn't allow). Thank you in advance!

@YankeeDarlings That will not work, and it never will.  This is not a Square restriction, per se.  Google Analytics only works on URLs where we own the top-level domain.  Square free sites (and all other web host's free sites) use a subdomain.  Since "square.site" is owned by Square and not by you, Google will not allow analytics.  If you want to use GA, you will have to buy your own custom URL.

Ok, so I was right. Thank you for confirming that! I actually do own my domain name, but can't afford to pay monthly for a paid plan right now until my business starts taking off. I guess I will be moving to the free site I have for my digital products that lets me point my domain name to it. Thank you again.
