Iโm working on a restaurant project in Australia and need clarification about a custom website integration with Square.
The restaurant has a completely custom-built website. It is NOT built using Square Online / Square Website.
Our intended flow is:
Customer orders from the custom website
โ Custom checkout
โ Square Web Payments SDK / Payments API
โ Payment is processed through Square
โ Order is created using the Square Orders API
โ The order should appear in the restaurantโs Square POS / Order Manager / KDS for staff to fulfil.
We have found Square developer documentation that appears to support custom payment and order integrations, but Square Support Australia has told us that API-created orders may not automatically appear in Square POS and that Square Online or another supported integration may be required.
Can someone from Square or anyone with actual experience confirm:
1. Can an Australian Square seller use a completely custom website (without Square Online) to accept Square payments?
2. Can that custom website create a paid pickup/takeaway order using the Square Orders API?
3. Can that API-created order automatically appear in Square POS / Order Manager / KDS for staff to fulfil?
4. If this exact workflow is NOT supported in Australia, what is the officially supported architecture for:
Custom website โ Square payment โ Square order โ Square POS?
5. If it is supported, could you please share the exact documentation and detailed setup process/API requirements?
We are specifically looking for the supported solution for Australian Square sellers, rather than a Square Online solution.
