Starting about 24 hours ago, Square Online started ignoring the days our business is closed when calculating order prep times. We have a lot of baked goods that require 2 or 3 business days' prep time. Before the change, if someone ordered something on Saturday, for example, and it required three days' notice, it would not count Sunday and Monday (when we are closed) and say that the soonest the order is ready would be Thursday.
However, now the days we are closed aren't counted. So this morning, anyone ordering a 1 business day's item, or a 2, or a 3, would all be told that they'd be ready on Tuesday at 7:30 am when we re-open. That is nonsense! That is the whole point of having a choice between "business days" and "calendar days" in the prep time dropdown.
To make matters worse, customer service chat told me that days a business are closed are never factored into the prep time and the business day feature is working "as intended." And there are no plans to change it. That is 100% untrue. We have been using this for over three years and the special orders have always calculated properly.
Anyone else notice this change?
Hi @Bsalty. First, you definitely spoke with someone at customer service who either didn’t understand your issue, or didn’t understand item prep times. Obviously, the fact that we have a choice between calendar and business days means that there are two different calculations that should go on there. As a fellow seller, I’m sorry you ran into that.
Since my online store doesn’t have need to this item prep feature — or any prep lead time feature — I can’t test it out. But what you are describing does not sound like a change — more like a bug. I’m going to flag your post, and send a private message to someone who I hope can help. Hopefully you’ll hear something back soon.
Before I do that, can you send me:
I’d like to recreate the issue before and see if anything jumps out at me, before I flag it.
Thanks!
