I am totally new to this and completely stuffed up when I signed up, I think. I accidentally put Square for retail but it's not really what I should have done, because I am only using it for market stalls/events, so should have selected the basic one. Is there a way to change this?

When you say you selected 'Square for Retail', do you mean you signed up for this plan or did you select 'retail' during the sign-up flow when asked about how you plan to use your Square Account?
If you have signed up for Square for Retail in error, you can remove this subscription from your online Square Dashboard. This won't delete your Square Account, it'll just remove the additional retail features you may have activated. You will then return to the standard Square Point of Sale account type.
We've included the steps here for how to manage your current subscriptions.

Yes, I signed up for Retail in error - I can't see where on my dashboard I can change this though?

Click on this link and it will take you directly to your Pricing & Subscriptions page. From here, you will be able to see whether you have activated a Square for Retail subscription in error.
It will be listed on the page as either Square for Retail Free or Square for Retail Plus. Depending on the subscription level, you will either need to contact Square Support to unsubscribe, or you will see the option to select Manage > Unsubscribe.
You can call support on 1800 760 137 (Mon - Fri, 9 am - 5 pm Melbourne time), or contact us via online chat or email. See the below steps.
1. Sign in to your Square account
2. Head to our contact page https://squ.re/3AWfZs2
3. Go to "Other", then "I don't see my issue"
4. Click "Message us", "Email us" or "Call Us"
Or, if you see the new chatbot help flow, type “support” to bring up a list of contact methods.
