Change Square account country

Signed up for Square online - didn't notice that the Square create account page despite using the UK link defaults the country to US, created the account and used the create Square online site and created my website (the weebly site allowed setting the country/currency to UK) but I'm unable to change the country info on the Square account and apparently Square support can't change it either - their suggestion was to delete and start again which seemed rather rubbish.

Seems an odd restriction to not be able to change country.

Following up on this @VRB .

The team confirmed they're able to disconnect your Square account to your Weebly account. Once this is done, you'll then have the option to reconnect a different one. It won't affect your Weebly website, and the content will remain the same.

 

We require written permission from your email address in order to disconnect the two accounts. Email our support team here to request the disconnection. 

 

Once you have confirmation that your US Square account and Weebly website have been disconnected, our Support Team can assist you with deleting the US Square account. This way, you'll be able to use the email address for your new UK account. To do so, you'll have to phone them on 0800 098 8008 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM). 

 
The last steps would be to create your new Square account here (make sure the country is set to the United Kingdom), and connect the account from Weebly.

I'm sorry to hear you're having these issues.

Unfortunately, we're not able to change the country of a Square account once you've started the onboarding. However, I've escalated this to our Ecom specialist team again to see if there could be a workaround, or if it's possible to disconnect your Weebly account from your Square account.

I'll get back to you as soon as I have an update.
