Solution

Hi, @NADUH ! Welcome to the Square Community!

I'm going to provide an outline of things to go through and check when it comes to making categories visible. A big factor lately is layout type that makes the categories be hidden.

Make Sure Categories Are Set to “Visible”

  • Go to your Square Dashboard → Items > Site Categories

  • Click on each category and ensure:

    • The category contains at least one item that is:

      • Marked available for online sale

      • Not hidden or out of stock (if stock hiding is enabled)

Ensure Items in the Category Are Set to “Sell Online”

  • Go to Items > Site Items

  • Select an item in the category

  • Make sure “Sell Online” or “Available for Pickup/Delivery” is enabled under Fulfillment

  • Also confirm the item is assigned to the correct category

Check Website Editor Sections

  • Go to Online > Website > Edit Site

  • On your homepage or Shop page:

    • Add a section if it’s missing: “Item Categories” or “Shop All”

    • Choose to display all or selected categories

    • Adjust layout

Clear cache and try incognito window

Sometimes your browser shows an old version of the site:

  • Try viewing your site in Incognito Mode

  • Or clear your browser cache and refresh the live site

Check Mobile vs. Desktop View

Occasionally, categories show differently (or not at all) on mobile if hidden by design settings. Use the editor's mobile preview to check visibility.

If all of the above is correct and categories still don’t show:

  • Try creating a new test category with one item and see if it appears

  • If it does, the original category may have a syncing issue, so try recreating it

If none of this works, please let me know and I will escalate to our ecommerce team. Some helpful information would be the names of the missing categories and screenshots always help too!
