Can you use the Application ID to sort transactions in the Dashboard?

Hey Squarers!  (Squarians?  Squarites?)

I have 2 websites using Square, both connected to my main account.  I need a way to separate the sales from each website in my reports.

The websites link to the API using different Application IDs, but the App IDs don't show as unique "Devices" and I can't seem to find another way to sort the transactions. Anyone have ideas or leads on this?

Solution

So the answer is yes, sort-of.

In our website settings there was an option for the "Location ID" which refers to the locations you can view in your dashboard.  I was using the same Location ID for both websites so the transactions were not being sorted.  I've changed that now and hopefully will begin to see them sorted out better going forward!

... user error, I guess!

Hi @Michael_L , thanks for posting !

Are you using Developer Square or are your websites APIs that are directly integrated with Square ?

Hey @Lou8 ,

We've created two "Applications" through Square (https://developer.squareup.com/console/en/apps) and they are "called" (I guess?) from the software that we use to sell our photos.

At checkout clients see something like the screen shot below.

Because each website uses a different Application (with unique Square Application IDs) I was hoping / wondering if there was a way to categorize transactions in my Square Dashboard based on that information.  Ideally the transactions would feed in to different "Locations" in my sales data but I'm not sure how to make that happen.

Thanks for confirming this info @Michael_L - apologies for the delayed response, I was on PTO.

Unfortunately, we can't provide support on APIs and Developer here. Square Developer has its own support team though, which you can contact directly here.

Feel free to share the team's response as it could help other sellers with a similar inquiry 🙂.

Thanks for sharing this @Michael_L ! Glad to hear you were able to find a way to sort your transactions accordingly 🙂.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
