Can you apply a sold eGift Card to a service yourself on a client's behalf?

I have an elderly client who has received one of my eGift Cards, and I want to be able to apply the amount to a service that I will be providing for that client. Am I able to process this myself and issue a receipt, etc, or do I have to email an invoice to the client for them to process themselves?

Hi @Shane_S,

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our seller community 👋 🙂

At this time, Invoices can't be paid with Gift Cards but you can apply the eGift Card from you end for your client when going through the checkout process.

Once you've added the item, or service to the checkout via the Square Appointments, or Square Point of Sale App, tap > Charge > More > Gift Card. You'll be able to enter the gift card number your client received in their email from here to complete the checkout process.

Please let us know how you go!

All my transactions are by email not point of sale. My normal procedure is that my clients are emailed an invoice which they the pay online with Square.

Is there no way I can apply the e-gift card to an invoice without point of sale?

I see, @Shane_S. Currently gift cards can't be applied to invoices, but if you're not using the Point of Sale, you could use the Virtual Terminal on your browser to process the gift card payment instead.
