Can I see categories only on my POS ?

I have a small business selling about 500 one of kind items in a season, all under 6 categories. How can I best set up my POS so I'm only having to look at my 6 categories when I make a sale in person, yet see all my individual items on my online shop? Would I begin by entering them on my POS or on my online shop?

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community. 

 

I would create your item library with categories under Items > Item Library in the Dashboard. From there, then you can build out your site, select which items you want to show on your site and select it's appearance. You can have a shop all page that will not display categories, and will show all of your items. Is that what you're looking for? Let us know! 💡

Thank you for your reply. Ok that does help a bit. I do want my customers to be able to shop by category on my online shop. But I’d like the ease of seeing categories only in my POS as I’d often be selling an individual item that I haven’t entered yet as an item in my dashboard. I may have even made a custom item for my customer and don’t want it in my online shop. Overall, it is not important to me to record which individual item is sold in person on my POS, but rather how many of each category. However my customers in my online shop will want to purchase by photo and individually so I realize the need to post individually there.

Hey there @SFNKaren, just jumping in to help out. With Square, you can create and organize your items as you wish within your POS app. As mentioned by Isabelle, you can choose the items you want to set as “Available” to only sell online, everything else will show up in your POS app.
