Is anyone using another alternative to adding bottle deposit to items? I just want to check here before sending my register back. Thanks
Hi @MRKS2022
You can add an item Modifier called "Bottle Deposit" for the amount you need to every item that requires a bottle deposit.
@LukeNieuw @MRKS2022 We thought about using modifiers for bottle deposits as well. However, you can't specify how many for just ONE modifier for Bottle Deposits. Therefore, you need to create several modifiers to cover different Bottle Deposit amounts.
What if you adjusted how you create the main items - and I confess I am not 100% sure what your inventory looks like - but what if you made the items based on the number of bottles?
Like - sell "Beer - 36 pack" and make the variations be the brand names "Bud Light / Molson Canadian / Kokanee". Then the bottle deposit modifiers would be consistent (same deposit for all 36-packs, all 12-packs, etc).
Alternately, could you put the deposit in as a separate item, and just get your staff to enter both the item and the deposit? It's sort of a bother but not really more work than what you're showing above.
We decided to go with the modifier and the cashier needs to select the beer package and the deposit amount.
Easy to scan, select 6PK or whichever package then 6PK deposit. We're hoping SRP will develop the bottle deposit function in the near future.
Are we any closer to a solution for handling can and bottle deposits? Shopify can do it with a 3rd party app called Canteen. Why can't Square?
Hello @waterloobrewing
Merged your post into this thread where other sellers have proposed workarounds to achieve what you're looking for.
Thank you!
No it needs to be an automatic feature, not something that relies on the cashiers remembering to do it every time.
