Bilingual site needed

Good day,

Being in Canada, we need to have a bilingual site French/English. I have pointed this out already to Weebly, but they said this was not possible. All the websites I built previously had this very basic option (each item having a description in each language, and webiste categories and action being available in each also).

This is really something needed and that would make a big difference. I'm convinced not to be the only one having this request.

Thank you for your attention.

We are in a similar situation but we are thinking that Google Translate might be able to do this for us - on the fly as it were?

Honestly, we haven't try this, but a built in solution would be much better for our customer. More professional.

Hopefully Square will have something to say about this to resolve the issue.

Tks

Hi,

I am thinking of doing a boutique online but I absolutly need it in bilingual... My business is in a bilingual village in Quebec but some person don't speak french... Let me know if you find a solution or not...

I am thinking of maybe, building to "identique" website...

But it's probably risky (ex: a different price on a item could become a big problem...)

[since you live in Quebec and the official language in the province is French - I would absolutely develop your site only in French - and when an English-speaking customer visits your store, and their operating system is set to English - Google will provide them with the option of translating your site from French to English automagically.]

Further, I do hope that eventually, Square provides us - within the backend itself - an option for each time to enter information for a product in whatever language(s) we require - and we can offer an immediate popup to the site that, based on the languages offered in the back end, the visit would be asked if they want to view the site in English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, etc. As the world gets smaller - multi-cultural sites are becoming more and more important.

we are now 2022 and in the support info it says that WEGLOT is the translator...but it doesn't seem to be connected/available in the app marketplace.  What is the solution now?  I would never have chosen square for my website if I knew it couldn't be in at least 2 languages...

I would love to know what the options are as well.  I will be launching my site this week and I have had to translate to both languages for each item , each page , etc.. it takes so long to maintain

I am in the same position. I want my page in English and French. I am will to build 2 pages and update them but have no idea how to connect/merge/sync the two!!  I wanted to create a pop-up so customers can choose what language they want to visit. Did you do this?

Has this been resolved ?! I’ve juste created my whole website and was ready to launch … if this is not a possibility I will be force to switch to another provider … in Quebec we need to be able to have both languages…

With Bill 96 you should not be able to sell websites in quebec without a bilingual option. It is totally frustrating and can get your small business squashed in no time. The time consuming options are not viable, I have over 40 sku's active at most time and with character limitations it makes it impossible to fit all the information on one item. Though I am an Anglophone I know what the law is and if this is not fixed by the end of my calendar year I will have to switch everything to another platform. When I signed up I absolutely never dreamed this would actually be a problem in Canada in 2024!
