Automatic Discount Rules Not Applying

I created a discount with 2 rules and the system is following one rule but not the other. The discount is :

20% off all items

Minimum Spend $15

Maximum discount value per purchase $3

So, the system is not applying the discount until someone spends $15, which is what it is suppose to do based on the first rule, but it is not capping the discount at $3 based on the second rule. It is discounting all the orders to 20% with no maximum discount value. Furthermore, when I place a test order online, it shows that the discount will only be $3, but when a person actually places the order, the discount is higher than $3. The customer who placed an order today (bottom picture), had a subtotal of $22 and received a discount of $4.40. The only thing I can think that is happening is that the maximum discount per purchase is being applied PER ITEM and not PER PURCHASE. I don't have any items with a value high enough to test this theory. Which is really weird because the cart is calculated correctly, so I don't know why the actual purchase is being billed differently than what the cart is showing.

You may be on to the answer there at the end.  I did a test with the same idea of 20% off max $3 on a $70 Item and it correctly capped it., but when I did a test on 3 $10 items it gave a $6 discount (3 items at $2 discount.  So it appears it is a max discount on an item limitation, not a bill limitation.

I was wondering why my cart showed the right discount cap and then I realized, in my laziness, I added three of the same exact items. So I tried again with different items and it did 20% on each item, with no cap on the total purchase. We have confirmed its a cap per item (even when you add multiples of the same item), not per purchase (as it says when you set up the discount). There is no way to implement an automatic discount of $X off a $XX purchase. Coupon codes are the only way. I was trying to spare my customers from having to enter a code, but that is not possible it seems.

This seems like relatively new thread.

I'm trying to achieve a similar objective. Give $X discount off $Y total sale purchase amount. E.g. $50 off $250.

I set the Minimum amount, but then the $50 is beign given for all items in the purchase. It seems the discount is being given for all items which exceeds the set $X.

So I changed it to %20 off, and I'm resorting to manually applying the discount for now.

Any thoughts?

Hello amir_23, thanks for reaching out and sorry you are having similar issue with applying discounts. I just want to make sure I have a clear understanding. The discount is applying per item and not the entire purchase is that correct?

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, that is correct. This happens when we have multiple different SKUs on the purchase. When having only one SKU on the purchase, it only discounts the designated $50.

Hmm, I am not sure why that would be happening, but in order to take a deeper dive into how your discounts are set up and do some more testing For account security we cannot take those actions here. You can reach support at 1-855-700-6000 squ.re/contactsqsupport. I appreciate your understanding, and if you need anything else feel free to reach back out.
