Attaching link to text not working

When I highlight text and try to attach a link to the highlighted text, the link won't attach; instead, the link gets pasted beside the text. I searched this community and saw an answer that suggested I need to click on the blank space below where I type the web address in the link pop-up window. I tried this several times, but it did nothing. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Mareesha

Solution

This is the response that Weebly support sent me. I thought I would share it here to benefit someone with the same problem. The fix was to open up Weebly on a different browser, and voila! I can now attach links to text. Strange, but I'm glad it's solved.

You can also follow these steps to start eliminating some possible causes:

  • Try clearing your cache, quitting your browser, re-opening it, and re-accessing your account. If you’re unsure how to clear your cache, a quick online search will give you some resources. You can also try using an incognito/private browsing window.
  • If that doesn’t help, try temporarily switching to a browser other than the one you normally use. For example, Chrome and Firefox are free, and if one doesn’t work well for you, the other might.
  • Lastly, try switching to a different local network other than the one you normally use. The easiest way to do so is by switching your network access from your WiFi to your mobile data/hotspot. If you’re using a mobile device, simply turn off your WiFi access so you’re only using mobile data. If you’re using a desktop device, try turning on your hotspot on your mobile device and connecting your desktop device to the hotspot (which uses your mobile data).

These are steps that will help us pinpoint the cause of unwanted behaviors in your account.

Here is a screenshot to show what I mean by the link not attaching to the text but instead ending up as a link after the text.

That’s an awekward workaround as if it wants to heard folks to their favorite browser. I want Square to make linking work in Safari.

linking text to a page does not catch, and my updated Opera does not even open to Weebly.
