Any way to create "add on" item online?

Hello, I am looking for a way to create an "add-on" item option for certain listed items in our online store.  Basically a way to list things that can only be purchased if a certain criteria is met (ie, this item can only be purchased if total order is $50 or greater), due to a low value/not worth shipping one small thing.  I'm assuming this can possibly be done through a modifier, but I'm having trouble fully understanding how to create one as the options seem limited.  I'm probably just missing something in the process though.

Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated!  Thanks!

Hi there @TheRusticQuill.  You’re not missing anything.  Modifiers would not be (in any circumstances) the right mechanism to do what you are trying to do.  They seem limited for a reason — they were not designed to be add-ons like you are envisioning.  Rather, modifiers are meant to allow customers to modify an item in specific ways, for those items that are customizable.

I bounced around ideas like only selling those items as part of combos/packages.  But if you did that, then customers couldn’t buy a small item by itself if they already had orders above your threshold.  Currently, Square Online does not have a minimum cart order function, either.

Honestly, the only practical advice I can give you is two-fold.  First, head to the Square App Marketplace and see if there is a third-party online store that meets your needs.  I’d imagine there is and, if so, you could use that to build and run your online store.  The second suggestion if to submit a feature request to the Square Online team, asking them to add a “minimum cart value” functionality.  But that last one is not a short-term solution, at all.

Thank you for the input!  All in all, it's probably not worth the trouble at this point and we'll just stick to larger priced items.  But appreciate the response, thanks!
