Hi Yarn_Lover!

  I have a Farm and Yarn shop - been using square for 4 years now.

i am using Weebly as my website platform.  I sell mostly at shows with a shop in my house and a new Kiosk at the local quilt shop.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.  I checked out your website.  Looks like you have something really great going.  I think I’m on the right track.  I host meet ups in the community on Thursdays.  And I think I’m going to rent space in a whatnot shop in the area next.  Let’s keep in touch via email.

ME! I know you posted this a while ago. I just opened my yarn shop 1.5 months ago. I'd love your take on how square is working for you? This new update has me all upset with the variations barely showing, lol. I have SO many variations with yarn colors, needle sizes, etc. I'm wondering if you have a better way of setting up your inventory in square?

To disable the New experience of only seeing 2 types of variations, in the bottom press - More>Settings then toggle off the new Experience on an Ipad.  Problem is this will only work till July 5th 2023.  Unless more people complain about the few Variations you can see.   I started a Thread New-Cart-Experience-6-7-2023/td-p/664270 

I did see someone with a Yarn Store did comment there.  The more use cases the better it might be to keep the option open to switch views at least.

@Candlestore Thank you. I did disable the new experience pretty quickly after attempting to check out a few customers. I also noticed it said it will only work until July 5th and then become permanent, that's what has me worried. I'm the one who posted on your thread earlier as well. I really hope they keep the option to switch between views. I'm not sure how to get my "vote" into square for this, is it as simple as commenting on your thread? Or do I need to submit something somewhere?

I am not sure how to get votes in either since Square just comes out with these things and then people complain.... I think it would be better to test and get feedback.  I did notice somethings were one way, got changed then complaints poured in then changed back.  Hopefully that happens with the New experience with Variations.

Hello!  Congrats on opening your yarn shop.  If you have a website, I would love to check it out.

 

I moved a month ago, so I am pretty much starting over.  I have found I need to form real relationships to sell my product so far.  I need online marketing help.  I like square.  It is complicated for me, as I am not techy. I do not know what the new update entails, but I do know something changes every single time I open the square app. And stuff you spend time doing will either disappear or change on its own, so keep an eye on everything.

 

I am going to start promoting lessons/classes.  It seems like that’s what people really want.

@Yarn_Lover Thank you! My website is www.idahoyarnshop.com I just opened so everything is a work in progress, as I'm sure it will always be. I've liked square up until this recent change that has me all worried since it will drastically change my daily operations and time in check out. I have noticed things like to change and I've been having to keep more of an eye on my inventory in square and square on-line than I'd like. I spend a lot of time hitting the "refresh" button after I've saved things. I've noticed if I make a change or add something, save it and then move on to the next item, I get an error and I lose all my work. Saving the change, then refreshing, then adding or changing the next item seems to work. It's annoying and time consuming, but works. 

 

Forming relationships is definitely key in the yarn industry. My community wants classes and when I started classes and social hours that was huge for business and building that community. It's been a fun adventure and I've really enjoyed it! This "new experience" is really my first big hiccup in the process. Best of luck on restarting and building those relationships!
