Adding new Inventory

Alright, feeling frustrated. In the last few months there have been some updates to the way items are added into the online store. Before when I was adding items into our online store, anything that I had put into our Square Retail was under the "unavailable" part when I filtered it. Now I only have the option to add the items directly onto the website then go back in and edit each item individually (category, fufillment, etc.) or they are floating in the abyss of our website. Anyone have a solution to this??

Hey there @ModernDollar

Our team has been actively making adjustments to the behavior of how items get imported to Square Online based on feedback from Sellers with similar businesses. I suggest you reach out to our Square Online support team so they can look into this matter with you and help you set it up at your convenience.

Hello @ModernDollar thanks for your post. I haven't added new inventory in the past several weeks, but in the past I've also experienced different ways of how inventory is added. Most recently, when I added items into my POS Square Register, I would see them in my online store; they would be seen but still needed to be "activated". I agree that it is very challenging to manage inventory in both online and in person venues, but I hope that Square is trying to streamline this process as @JJ_ mentioned above. I can only encourage you to remain patient and hope the process improves for all sellers.

The only solution that I have is to add items online in small batches. I'll usually add about 10 items at a time, then quickly search for each one and mark it as unavailable. Once everything is added then I'll filter by unavailable and go through each item to get them ready to sell.

I'm fortunate in that I don't have to make major changes to my online item library, because otherwise this would be a major headache. I am very disappointed that Square hasn't yet reverted to the prior system where newly imported items were marked as unavailable by default, but I am glad that it's being addressed – better sooner than later!
