90-day sign in concern

Yesterday my Square Point-of-Sale terminal, which I have loaded on an iPad in a Square Stand, logged out completely and required an account sign-in using my email and password.  This is the first time I can recall that happening and I was concerned to see a checkbox saying the PoS would stay logged in for 90 days.

Is this new - and am I to understand that after 90 days it will automatically log out?  I have a few employees who accept payments and I am sometimes unavailable for a day or two at a time. If the terminal logs out while I am not physically present I would need to provide them with the email, password, AND some way to use my 2-factor authentication.  Obviously that's not ideal.

The employees have their own PIN code so the PoS does "lock" against unauthorized access already.  Having the entire PoS shut down periodically is not going to work out for us.  Is there a way to work around this already that I have missed, and if not - what suggestions are there for handling this so it doesn't shut down my business periodically.

Thanks so much,

Michael

Hello @Michael_L

I can see how that's concerning!

We have added the 2-factor authentication and automatic log-out as an extra layer of security for your account, but understand that in your particular case, it doesn't work for your business.

While our direct support team can lend a hand with the 2-factor authentication, we might not be able to disable the automatic log-out feature at this time.

I would suggest giving them a call and discussing creating employee profiles with certain access levels that would allow them to keep the business running while you're not physically present.

Let me know how that goes and, as always, thank you for all you do!
