PCI compliance

Hi, I’ve recently moved from another payment system that required me to pay extra to be PCI compliant. Does using square negate this requirement? Thanks in advance.

Hey @WillDee welcome to the Seller Community.

Yes, as @iain697 mentioned, PCI compliance is covered by Square.

I will attach some additional information below:

Square provides end-to-end encryption and PCI DSS-compliant payment processing with no PCI or security fees

As the merchant of record, Square relieves sellers of the need to complete annual checklists and/or audits and maintains liability in the case of a data breach. However, if you choose to store, process or transmit credit card information outside of Square’s system, then the responsibility shifts to you.

Note: For security reasons, and to ensure PCI compliance, Square will no longer process chip and PIN card or contactless payments on devices running versions of the Square app older than 90 days. This change took effect on 26th March 2019. Learn how to update the Square app.

I believe all transactions with square are PCI compliant - and you dont need to pay extra fees for this. It was one of the reasons we moved as whilst the base transaction rate may appear competitive - card service providers added allsort of charges. Overall, we are paying slightly less then when were with Global
