Configuring afterpay on Square app.

Hi, I am trying to configure Afterpay on the square app and it wont do anything. I have the latest updated version, I have followed the instructions that was provided by square online and I have toggled between in person on and off. Nothing is working. i have a S23 if that helps. I have my first markets next week so I hope someone can help. I have also reset the phone twice.

If you have Afterpay toggled on for in-person payments here, and then the following steps set you should be good to go: 

 

  1. Tap ≡ More > Settings > Checkout > Payment.
  2. Under All payment types, tap Configure Afterpay. You will be directed to your dashboard via a web browser.
  3. Toggle the In Person setting on/off.
  4. Tap Save.

It sounds like you've tested all of this already. However, the checkout process itself may be the problem here - Afterpay won't appear as a payment option the way 'Cash' or 'Card' would. 

 

To check out using Afterpay, you’ll (the customer) first need to load your Afterpay Card into your digital wallet, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay. When prompted, simply tap your mobile device on the Square seller’s hardware as you would any mobile wallet or contactless payment.

 

  1. Simply download the Afterpay mobile app to set up Afterpay Card.
  2. Visit the Card tab and follow the prompts to add Afterpay Card to your digital wallet.
  3. When you’re ready to pay, tap to pay with Afterpay Card using Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay.

Hi,

I tested it with my phone but it didn't work. I might have to keep trying. I took the cover off as well. And my phone is set up for nfc payments to so I'm stumped. The card reader wouldn't accepr my friends phone either and that was a normal transaction.

Hmm so you have the Afterpay app downloaded and your account set up, etc @Kaunis

 

That does seem strange. 

 

When you say you couldn't accept a payment with the Reader either was this just a normal tapped transaction? Were there any error messages?

Yep so i have the app, download the Afterpay card and wallet. No error messages. Just nothing happened at all. 

I can't even pay with my phone and i have NFC activated.

So i switched from google wallet to Samsung wallet. I was able to use my own card to tap and pay on the back of my phone (with case off).

I then tried to use Afterpay and my own card (digital wallet) to complete the transaction with the card reader. It didn't finish th transaction but it at least had the pay button and fingerprint scanner up. It was like my phone couldn't find the square readers nfc? The reader is connected. Dodgy reader perhaps? Afterpay works online fine. I don't need a merchant Afterpay account so I? Because it's already set up via square on line? I'm so stumped!
