Is there a way to automatically add a charge for using credit and debit sales through the POS register?
Hey @FelbosFranks,
Thanks for being a member of the Community.
Square's fee is taken from the total amount of the transaction – including tax, tips, and any added surcharges. A surcharge is a fee added to the bill when a buyer pays with a credit card to cover the cost of payment processing fees. This varies from a Convenience Fee, which covers the costs of accepting payment outside of a merchant's usual channel (e.g., by phone instead of in-store), no matter the payment method used.
I hope this helps.
With any luck, Square will have a surcharge calculator set up for Canadian retailers soon. We'd only be allowed to charge up to 2.4% though, not the full 2.6% processing fee, plus 10cents transaction fee.
How do I charge a customer the transaction fee on the square register in a convenience store then?
At this time Square doesn't offer the ability to pass the processing fee to the customer @FelbosFranks. Thank you for sharing your interest.
When will this option become available?
