Hello Musicians and Audio Professionals! Desert island gear discussion. 🎸

Hello fellow musician entertainers! 👋

If you were stranded on a desert island, what would be the 5 pieces of gear you couldn’t live without? For the sake of this discussion, let’s assume this is a magic island and has power outlets in palm trees.

For me, it would have to be these:

  1. Kemper profiler amp. I love tube amps as much as the next guitarist, but this gives me so many options in one device. It really upped my recording game. With built in effects I can also leave separate pedals off-island.
  2. Gibson Les Paul #1: 1995 standard that I added three-way splitting on the bridge pickup and a humbucker-sized p90 in the neck.
  3. Gibson Les Paul #2: Demo shop model that has firebird pickups.
  4. Gibson Midtown Custom: 2010s model for semi-hollow sounds.
  5. Gretsch Rancher 12-string acoustic.

This was surprisingly tough to narrow down! My favorite Les Paul is still my 2007 standard in desert burst, but I opted for these because of the tonal options. 🤘🤠🤘

I actually invested in an Alesis kit so I could learn drums and use it with Superior Drummer 3 in logic, but it's in the garage and I've only played around on it twice. 😂

Thankfully, I could make music without power, as I have my beautiful Selmer Serie III alto sax and his big "bro," tenor sax to play, and I sing, but if there's magical power, then... I would bring my focusrite 2i2 to record, my DAW, and my lovely Neumann mic and M-Audio Keystation 88 to create music and record it with. But then again, I suppose I could just sing and play, as long as the salty air didn't destroy my lovely horns... then I guess I'd have to fashion a "recorder" out of bamboo or something! LOL

If I was forced I'd play on coconuts and papyrus reeds. 😂
