spellcheck issue on square terminal

We have a square terminal at our gallery. We have to write descriptions for every item sold. Just above the keyboard, as you start to type, it guesses what words you're typing, like an autocorrect but it doesn't behave as an autocorrect. The words it's putting up there are completely different than what you're typing.

For example, trying to type in "lavender," the suggested words are "leaf, he, piece, large."

This really slows down transactions. Any ideas what is going on?

Hello @Janepell 👋

Sorry to hear the spellcheck is giving you issues.

Are you using the Square app on an Android or iOS device?

We don't offer a native spellcheck feature, but you might be able to disable the suggestions from your phone's or tablet's settings.

Let me know if that helps!

Thank you.

I'm getting logical suggestions (using the square terminal, not a phone or computer) but when I type "both are exc..." and I choose "excellent" from the suggested words it deletes the space previous to the words so I get "both areexcellent" so then I backspace to correct it and in the midst of that it takes out the space prior to that so I then have "bothareex".

Why am I using the terminal?  Because it's already logged in and that's where I first saw the alert for the message.  I did later see an email but that offered only the last message the customer sent "I apologize for the mess around everything.  Thanks! Sammie"   but not the entire conversation which is utterly useless - what mess, which everything, who is Sammy????   Fortunately I had already seen the alert on the terminal and was aware of the previous conversation but had I seen this after hours I would have had zero clue and need to log in to figure out context before responding.
