@770770 Fellow seller here.  Just asking a clarifying question.  Would you be ok with an eSim card?  If Square did this, it would be the only smart option since physical SIM cards are scheduled to be discontinued in a few years.

@770770 When the Handheld was in Alpha/Beta testing, that was a feature I begged them to include. I told them most people that would be buying them would be mobile people and it would be a huge selling point, but they never added it. I don't know if the additional cost of 149.99 for the cellular chip, or if they would have to pay a royalty for using the chip was what caused them not to include it.

@rtfulk no doubt this is a financial concern.  The chip makers control this market.  The have a virtual monopoly to set the prices. There are few players in the SIM market.  Hence the competition is scarce.  Even if Square wanted to eat the cost, their board and investors might not. Isn't American Capitalism grand? Ha

@TheRealChipA My curiosity got peaked about why they wouldn't include the cellular chip. Come to find out the chips have to have a network/security certification from Visa/Mastercard and speaking of Capitalism you know their certification is probably not free. Knowing Visa/Mastercard they would charge Square for the certification, then try to figure out a way to charge us to use it.

@rtfulk Maybe GenZ is on to something. I’m an American capitalism skeptic these days, At 64.75 years old, that wasn’t always so. But I’m AM a Boomer who was taught the American myth. Lol
