I need some advice.
We have a Square POS consisting of
iPad (fully updated, 2 years old)
Square Card Reader V2 (new)
Cash Draw
Receipt Printer: TSP650II
The receipt printer is connected via Bluetooth to the iPad and via an Ethernet cable to the cash draw. The Square reader also connected to the iPad via Bluetooth.
The Square POS software does not recognise the printer any more Settings>Hardware. Connectivity is fine and POS works as usual just no printer..
Blue tooth connectivity separately to iPad, iPhone and PC (W11) is not the problem.
Resetting printer does not work
There are no errors on the TSP650II a test print is fine
There is clearly an issue with the Square IOS software
After 30 minutes a colleague was told by Square Support to purchase a USB receipt printer. A bit pointless for an iPad.
We are a charity so money it tight.
My question is does anyone know what has happened here, and if needed what printer would we purchase
PS I did try connecting to W11 to update firmware on the TSP650 but the downloadable drivers do not cover this printer 😐
Many thanks
Hi @David11 — thanks for reaching out. I know printer issues are never fun to deal with, and I’m happy to help.
I do see the TSP650II listed on our compatibility page, and it notes that the printer should be connected via network or Ethernet. If it’s currently connected through Bluetooth to your iPad, that could explain the disconnection issues. Has this printer previously worked successfully over Bluetooth?
Also, could you let me know which Square app you’re using, the iPad model, and the current iOS version? That will help me narrow this down.
Hi there
The OS is 26.2.1 on a 10th Gen iPad of 64GB (Used 33Gb). It has always been connected by Bluetooth to Square. It now only connects to the iPad but is not recognized by Square (version: 6.92.3so). The only cable (apart from power) goes to the cash draw. We have no Ethernet port close by, only Wi-Fi which connects our LAN to the iPad.
