Square Register Power Button non-responsive with 3 hours of offline sales on it

This morning our Square Register was acting strange and unable to connect to our ethernet network even though our internet and Square were fine on other devices. I plugged and unplugged the ethernet cord, but the Register still thought we were connected to ethernet so I unplugged the register to try to restart it and.... I cannot turn it back on.

The power button does nothing with everything plugged in. Pressing for 20 seconds, hard presses, short presses : nothing.

I would simply chalk this up to it getting fried (we've had some power issues here with the heat wave last week), BUT it had been running in offline mode for 3 hours before this and has 3 hours of offline sales on it!

Is there any trick to simply getting this thing on so I can at least get my sales in?

Hm... very *very* strangely, my staff had something similar happen a week or so ago (6/20). I got a message from them that it they couldn't get it to turn on after it disconnected from the customer display and they restarted it. They said they pressed the power button, tried plugging and unplugging everything (including ethernet), held the power button, etc -- but it stayed blank.

I can't say for sure that it's the same, because I was able to get it to start a few hours later by just unplugging it and plugging it back into a different wall outlet and turning it on. I assumed they just had been unplugging/plugging in the wrong cords (though they claimed they did every cord!) because the one thing they *hadn't* tried was unplugging from the wall. I figured maybe something just came loose or they didn't fully plug it back in.

But it might be worth a try to make sure its not the outlet? The outlet itself did still work for other things, so this could all have just been a coincidence! But it's pretty strange to see such a similar occurrence with a Square Register so soon after my own!

Thanks for the response! I've tried a few different outlets and it's still not working 😞
