Square Register Multiple active orders in person at a bar

Hi folks

 

I am a volunteer bar manager for a local club. We are 100% run by volunteers.

 

I used to work behind the bar 30 years ago and I can remember each bar staff being able to add orders simultaneously for example:

 

bar staff 1 would add fosters, crisps and a glass of wine, then go and fetch the items

bar staff 2 could login on their own account without disturbing staff 1 order and process a different order.

Bar staff 1 could come back to their original order and process it.

 

At the moment I have each volunteer bar staff registered and given their own pin number, however when one volunteer logins in and add items and fetches the order the second volunteer logs in and will see the first volunteer items and therefore can't serve until the first volunteer finishes the order.

 

I have contacted customer support and they don't seem to understand what I am trying to achieve, so I am hoping some good folks here who run a bar or similar and understands the need for multiple staff to use the terminal simultaneously allowing faster serving.

 

Thanks in advance for any tips you may have. I am starting to wonder if I have ordered the wrong POS Register. 🙄

 

I have search previuos posts for this issue, but it doesn't seem to be resolved.

With Square the Good news is, you did not order the wrong POS Register.  The bad news is Square has 3 main apps to place on your Register.  Square POS, Square for Retail and Square for Resturants.  There are slight differences the way each works.  I use Square for Retail so next to the Tender button at the bottom right you can save a Cart, Resturants I think this is called Save Ticket.  I am wondering if your Volunteer just leaves the Checkout open and not saving the order is what they are seeing.

 

We would need to know which Square App you are using on your Register, Grey is Pos, Teal is Retail, and I think an orange Icon is Resturants.   With this information on which app you are using maybe someone on here can guide you with the actual wording and steps to use.
