Square App crashes on Updated iPads 10/29/25

The Square app permissions disappeared in the iPad update 26.0.1. It doesn't allow us to give the Square app permission to use any of our device options. The Location services, camera, contacts, phone permissions are needed for the app to work. It's not in the menu options to activate them manually. It's all gone. The app crashes before it opens. I've tried the POS, for Retail & the Appointments. I just lost the use of my register because we have an iPad in a square stand & now I can't use it. Hopefully we'll get a fix soon. We can't revert back to an older iPad version until this is fixed. Updates are not reversable when we look up how to do it. Can you do an app update to have the permissions pop up before opening?

There wasn't an option under the apps. Security settings didn't let me add them either. I finally went into the iPad settings to reset all of my previous settings to clear them out. Only after that was done, and added the wifi info again, I could then have the settings pop up when opening the Square app to have all of the permissions ask for access again. For some reason the iPad update cleared all of that out. The permissions were missing for ALL of the Square apps before I did this.

Hi @alhstudio2021, thanks for flagging this issue to the community. I completely understand your concern and want to help get this resolved.

To look into this further, could you please share the iPad model you’re using? Are the Retail and Appointments apps also crashing when you open them? And just to confirm — you’re unable to go to your iPad Settings > Privacy & Security and enable some of those permissions from there?

If you’re able to share any photos or videos of what you’re seeing on your end, along with any additional details, that would be really helpful.

I’m glad you were able to enable the settings again through your iPad. If you run into anything else moving forward, just let me know. I’m happy to help!
