Scale integration with Sqaure Register

We are a new business opening a Refillery and chose Square soley on the scale integration.  Directly from Sqaure's website we purchased:

-Square Register

- 2 Brecknell 6710U scales and the USB Cable for USB Scale.  We only need 1 scale to integrate as the other will be used for a tare station.  We did try both scales with square.

We have configured the following as directed:

- on the scale, changed USER-COM2-LYOUT to Multi
- on the scale set USER-OUT2-STAUS to yes
- scale set to weigh in ounces (precision standard .0)
- Square item set to sell by the ounce (set precision to .0)

Here are some things we have tried to troubleshoot at the direction of Square already:
-Update the system
-factory reset
-unplug and plug in everything (several times)
-send diagnostic report
-tried in both standard and retail mode
-created new item set to sell by fl oz
-contacted Brecknell directly, here was their response:
             - "The 6710 scale integrates with a lot of different software's they just need to write code to our scale of NCI, ECR, Toledo 8213 or one of the other protocols written in the scale. Only Square can tell you if it matches up to one of their equipment as they design their software to go with our scale."

When a scale is connected it is supposed to send the weights automatically to square and disable manual input. The weights are not sending and Square Register is allowing us manual weight input.

Has anyone successfully paired the Brecknell 6710U to Square Register?  We are not loyal to Brecknell if anyone was able to pair any scale to Square.

We have been passed around to several Square reps over the past week and they keep having us repeat the same steps.  We are planning to open next week.  I know this is a Square Community but I am open to other POS systems with scale integration if anyone has a recommendation that they have used.

@TrueNorthRefill I'll take a go at this.

First thing to check (this determines everything else):

1. What exact USB cable are you using between the Brecknell 6710U and the Register?  The one that came with it, etc, not one you had lying around?

2. Does the scale appear on the Register under
Settings → Hardware → Scales?
If it doesn’t show up there, the Register isn’t detecting the device.

If it does appear:

3. When testing, are you adding an item sold by weight and sitting in the weight entry field?

4. Is the scale set to continuously output weight, or only when stable/printed?

Thanks Donnie.

1. We are using the 9 pin connection from the scale to the USB connection on the square hub.  This was purchased directly from Square with the scale.

2. Yes, I can see it connected; it says USB Scale fl oz.

3. Yes, we have the items setup to sell in ounces. I have the precision set to .0, same as scaled, I tried changing to other precisions but no luck. When I select the item to sell, I can manually input the weight.  However with a connected scale it is supposed to automatically send the weight from the scale and disable the manual input.

4. The scale continuously weights, this model does not have a printer. I tried the settings in the manufacturer default mode and also tried it using the configuration that was recommended by square:

- changed USER-COM2-LYOUT to Multi

- set USER-OUT2-STAUS to yes

I have multople friends who use this scale, actually use 4 and 5 in their stores and they work amazing.  it sucks about the price but the integration is seemless and it is the only scale that integrates with Square currently.

As Donnie said does it appear in your Square settings?

It's nice to hear that it does actually work somewhere with square.  Are you able to tell me what model square that they use?  We have the Square Register (1st Gen, V2)  the OS is 5.63.0122.
