Replaced a Square Register with new one. what to do with old one?

we replaced our square register as it wouldnt scan cc's anymore.  Service told us we just had to buy a new one.

Is there any use for the ipad on the old register?  Can we use that somehow?

Is it a Square register the all-in-one device, or a stand you put an iPad in?  If it is the latter an iPad can be used as a Square terminal or just as an iPad for apps and internet usage.  I'm assuming it was an older iPad and older stand so the iPad doesn't fir in the new stands.
