Punch cards and not discounting modifiers

So what we are trying to do is trying to find a way that we can discount the main drink but not the modifiers. We use Punch Cards and of course if they feel them up they can redeem them for a free drink but up charges like cold foam, or extra expresso is not included. When we try to Discount the drink, which is 100%. It discounts the whole drink with any upcharge items they might have had. Trying to figure out a way around this so it takes their drink off but they have to pay for the any

up-charges(modifiers)they added to it.

Hi there @Danielleknable.  So I have a couple of answers for you.  None of them are going to be exactly good news, but they have the virtue of reality with the possibility of good news one day.

First, you can not have percentage discounts apply only to the base item and not to the modifiers.  So your only work-around is to have an open dollar discount code that your employees will have to enter the base item price that as the discount.  Open dollar discounts can be applied at the item level and not the card level, so at least this will work.

Second, this is a great candidate for a feature request.  Square already allows us to define discount codes that apply before or after taxes.  You could submit a feature request to ask them for another advanced discount setting to ONLY discount the base item price.  It will be reviewed and hopefully accepted for a future POS update.  If you decide to do this, please come back here and post a link to your feature request.  I, for one, will add my support to it — and I know other Square Champions program members who probably will, also.
