Make a sound when online orders come in.

Seems like a simple request. If the printer is out of paper or jams, there's nothing telling my staff that an online order came in. Please allow for a sound to chime that must be tapped to respond to.

@wilef There is a notification sound on iPad when an online order comes in.  Make sure you have notifications turned on under the order manager.  That said, it isn't super loud.  You can set up in your online weebly dashboard to have it e-mail you whenever you get a new online order.  This can be helpful if you want to set up something to know, but not super good if you get a ton of online orders.  I have orders print to our kitchen and a receipt printer at one of the registers to make sure we don't miss a ticket.

I’m referring to the square terminals. We don’t have an iPad setup.

@wilef Make sure you go into the orders module on your terminal and enable alerts.  I would enable the alerts every 5 mins so the pop up shows up again.  Then also go under settings and sounds and make sure the sound is turned all the way up and see if that helps you.

We have a system that every day before lunch we manually check the paper and change it if it is low regardless on all our printers.  We can't afford to snaggle up our line by losing a ticket or having to change paper in the middle of a rush.

We haven' t gone live online yet.  Everything is ready to go, but I want to make sure that we don't miss an order when we are busy.  Also have square terminals; going to follow the advice here and make sure things are set up right.  I hate the thought of missing an order when it comes in.

The advice here doesn't work. I've enabled alerts and get no sound when an online order comes in, just a printed receipt. Volume is all the way up.

As @Donnie-M mentioned above, this feature is currently implemented as is called Order Alerts (additional info here in the Support Center). I have moved your post to the Square Terminal board instead since this is more suitable for your question.

I reached out to one of our engineers to confirm that this feature is available on the Square Terminal. They tested it out and confirmed that they were able to get their own Terminal to make a sound notification when they submitted a test order and it provided a notification box on the screen of “1 New Order”.

Please be sure to follow the following steps to ensure your Terminal will alert you of a new order:

Go to More > Settings > Orders > Alerts > Toggle on Allow Aerts > Set Frequency of Online Order notifications.

The Sound will happen even if the volume under Settings > Hardware > Sounds > is set to no volume.

And just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly here, are you saying that the sound doesn’t happen ONLY when the printer jams or is out of paper, but it makes a sound and notification when the printer is functioning properly? Please let me know! I'll keep an eye out for your reply 👀
