Issues with Delayed Receipt Printing and Cash Transactions

OK, we've had this issue for more than two weeks. Out of nowhere, and intermittently, we have this issue on transactions. Run a credit card, and maybe one out of four won't print...need to turn the receipt printer off and on, then it'll reconnect and then print. Same with cash transactions...register drawer won't open. Transaction goes through, but we just don't get the receipts like we normally do (and we have to manually unlock the register drawer). There's no real rhyme or reason when these happens...just on and off. The issue only happens when the printer is on ethernet...it seems to work fine on Bluetooth

 

We've spent two weeks troubleshooting this...swapped the printer and iPad, replaced ALL cords (literally everything electronic, accessory kit, ethernet, etc.), deleted app, restarted iPad, factory reset the Epson printer, refreshed internet network, etc. Have been on the phone for hours with Square and Epson, and Comcast came out to check all internet and wi-fi. We're absolutely stuck here. Square blames Epson, Epson says it's the POS, nobody has answers.

 

I've found this issue on several forums not just in Square, but other POS systems. Lots of "suggestions" to do everything above, but nobody who actually said "I had the issue and solved it...here's what to do". Anyone HERE happen to have a solution?

@OrangeandBrewI'm sorry you're having trouble with this...is the ethernet cable attached to a Square hub? If so, have you tried a different hub connection?

 

I haven't had this issue, but in the past I've had to reprint a receipt for a previous transaction, and if you go into your transaction list, do you have an option to reprint a receipt? I know this isn't ideal but if this works at least you wouldn't have to restart the printer.

Thanks Charlie. No, Ethernet goes from printer to modem...been set up that way for six years. Unfortunately on the reprint of a receipt, it still gets stuck. When we turn the printer off then back on, it spits out two receipts then, lol. I'm so out of ideas. Appreciate the suggestions!

Thank you for sharing the details of your experience. It looks like you have troubleshot both parts. Quick question: When the printer is not responding, have you tried rebooting your router(if you have one) or modem? I know you already did a lot of network troubleshooting, but this sounds like an experience I had with an office printer. I resolved it by replacing my router.

 

Hopefully, this can get addressed for you soon.

Thanks JJ...yep, did that. Comcast came out to troubleshoot everything on the internet and wi-fi end.
