Is there a program to automatically add 3.5% to every item in square pos or do you have to add it to each item individually?

Hi @motherearths350.  sorry to start with questions, but I need to. 

• Are you asking if there is a way to automatically increase the prices of all of your items in your catalog?
• or are you asking if each transaction can have an automatic charge of 3.5% added to it?  If so, what is this charge for?

 Those answers will help me give you the best solution(s).

@motherearths350Cool.  Thank you for the clarification.  So, there is not a button or automatic way to do this.  But there is a way to make bulk changes to our item catalogs.

Go to your online dashboard and export your item catalog as follows:

• Dashboard > Items & orders > Items
• Click the Actions button
• Select Export Library
• Follow the prompts and export and download to your computer

Then, you’ll have to open the exported file and use some spreadsheet formulas to apply your increase to each item.  After that you will create a CSV and go back to the item library and import the changed item catalog which will overwrite the prices with the new ones.

Obviously, I’m assuming that you (or someone in your business) are comfortable with the basics of using spreadsheets this way.  If you aren’t, I can help you do this.  Just let me know.

The quickest way I know how to raise all your prices by X% would be to export your Catalog as a csv or excel file then use a simple formula that is applied to everything.  

For example:

  Column S

Price

In the catalog Column S (Excel) is the price column So insert a new column Column Column T ( there is already one there)

Then in the newly created column next to the header Price typin new Price for example.

Next to your first items price type in " =(S3*1.035) "   This says what ever the value is in cell S3 multiply it by 1.035, then when you hit enter the new price will be displayed.  Copy the formula down the New Price Column and all prices will be calculated.   Then Upload this to Square using New Price column data for the Price field ..... not sure if you have to delete the Price field or not.
