Is the Epson TM-T20III (ethernet) printer compatible with Square?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Epson TM-T20III (ethernet)

I have been using Epson TM-T20II(ethernet) for a longe time and work with no problem with Square POS app but now the printer broke. I bought the new modal Epson TM-T20III(ethernet) because of local shops do not sell the old modal (II) anymore.

Epson TM-T20III(ethernet) does not show on the Square POS app but it works with the Epson TM Utility app on IOS. How to make Epson TM-T20III show on the Square POS app the same as the old modal?

Hey there! So sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with your printer. I know how important those can be for the efficiency of a business.

Looking a the Hardware Compatibility by Device page, it doesn't look like the Epson TM-T20IIII (ethernet) is compatible with the Square Point of Sale app, which is why it isn't showing up as an available printer connection. I would recommend checking that page and purchasing a printer that is proven compatible and returning your current printer if you're able to. You can also purchase a new ethernet printer from our Square Shop page if you want to be sure your printer is compatible. Thank you!

Wait, huh?? I also bought an Epson TM-T20iii, I was 100% sure I was buying a printer that was compatible with Square, after referencing the compatibility guide. If you cross your eyes ever so slightly, the names of these two devices are  practically identical.

I've searched the internet and I can't even figure out what the difference between them is. It seems the T20iii is the updated version of the T20ii, but the specs are  pretty much identical, and the two machines look exactly the same. Why would Square support one of them and not the other? Why would Epson name two different devices with nearly identical names if they were not cross compatible with each other? Surely I am not the only person who has made this mistake??

I am not at all sure I can exchange this printer I just spent $250 on.Are you telling me I may have just poured that money down the drain???

Ok, it's 2024 and this thread has been quiet for a while. Also the official Square compatibility matrix does not say anything about TM-T20III yet. I come to say that I just tested it via Ethernet from an iPad and it both is recognized by the Square PoS software and it can print.
