How do you allow employees to clock in from appointment mode?

I can't seem to figure out how I can have my employees clock in from appointment mode. We are using the square terminal hardware. In default mode, there is a clock in button in the top corner. However, there is no such option in appointment mode. Changing modes needs an override -- and also closes out the cash drawer -- so not something I want happening when people need to clock in/out. What am I missing?

Great question — this one trips up a lot of teams using square appointments. You’re right — in appointment mode, the built - in “Clock in/out” option isn’t visible the same way it is in point of sale mode. 

Here’s how to work around it: 

1. Use the square Team App for clock - ins 

• Have your employees download the square Team App (available on iOS and android). 
• They can clock in/out from their phones without switching Terminal modes or affecting your cash drawer. 
• The time entries still sync automatically with square Dashboard for payroll and reports. 

2. Alternative (If mobile isn’t ideal) 

• You can set up another device ( like a phone or tablet) logged into square Team just for time tracking at your location. 
• That way, employees can clock in separately without interrupting Appointments on the main Terminal. 

unfortunately, clock - ins directly from Appointment mode aren’t supported right now but using the Team App keeps things smooth and avoids mode switching.
