How are readers linked to a Square Account?

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: Can I trace transactions to a square reader

I have two square readers and one has gone missing. The lost and found at our market had one handed in, but I am having trouble working out if it is mine or not.

Occasionally I have to 'forget reader' for me to be able to connect a reader, so I can't see this one showing up.

I wondered if I could pick a date when I know 2 readers were in use and find out the reader number?

Is this possible?

Thanks

Hello @Robertson1 👋 My name is Violet and I'm one of the Moderators here in the Community. I'm happy to help you with this 🙂

You can view the reader's profile on the Devices page of your Square Dashboard. This page will show all of the Square hardware that you've used with your Square account. When you click on a specific device, the device's profile will pop up, and you'll see a "Device ID" listed. This should correspond with the Serial Number printed on the back of the reader.

Also, Square Readers are universal and they are not linked to any specific user or their bank account. So if this reader isn't yours, there's really no harm in using it, other than someone else may be missing their reader 😅 If you're having any trouble pairing your reader, you can review the pairing troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
