Help! I can’t get my reader to pair

My buddy gave me a reader. But when trying to pair it flashes the four orange lights 2-3 times then flashes the four red lights once. My phone doesn’t even show a device trying to pair. I’ve updated the app, reset my phone, factory reset the reader, fully charged it, I’ve tried everything online I could find.

I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this, I can hear how frustrating it’s been, especially since you’ve already tried every recommended step and the reader was given to you by a buddy. You’ve definitely done all the right things so far. The light pattern you’re describing (four orange lights flashing a few times, followed by a single red flash) usually indicates that the reader isn’t successfully entering pairing mode or is failing a Bluetooth handshake.

Here are a couple of things to double-check, just in case:

• Make sure Bluetooth and location services are enabled on your phone (both are required for pairing).

• Try pairing from a different phone if possible, just to rule out a device-specific issue.

• Confirm the reader model is supported by the current version of the app.
