Go to take orders over the phone to be paid when the customer arrives

We have always hand written orders. Been using square online for a few years. Printed tickets for online orders. Hand written for all others. Have built out everything for a square register. 
How do we handle orders placed over the phone for pickup or delivery? These orders will be paid for by the customer when they arrive. 
Why don’t orders placed through the resister show up on the orders screen? We like to mark orders in progress and complete to notify the customers. 

Most importantly tho, we need the ability to take orders and quickly pull them up for payment when the customers arrive to pay.

Not sure if you can do this on a Register as I use a Square Stand.  

Take the Order as normal over then phone.  Then instead of Pressing Tender, Press Save Cart.  Then you can Name the cart any name you like, Customers Name is best to find quicker.   Then you can Open the Saved Carts Tab and choose the Customers name.  You can also Print the Saved Ticket ot Open the saved Cart to take payment. 

 

This is how I do this using Square for Retail on my Square Stands.

I should've specified we are using square for restaurants. The option you mentioned doesn't seem to be available on it. I did put square for retail on my square register for a moment. I played with the save carts and found it extremely helpful! We have been using square for restaurants a couple of years at a limited capacity, for online orders and to report progress on order status.  In my case, I hired a expert through square to help me get my pos system setup, clean up my item library and square store. We have been building and testing everything in the restaurants app. The pay later worry came up when we were done and ready to launch our new POS. May have Square assistant help us with square for retail and try that. I really appreciate your help with this. Happy holidays.

We found that by using device profiles there is a way to have the open checks on square for restaurants. It works well. The issue now is how do we take care of delivery orders. There must be a way to enter the address and have it print on the ticket. Like it would for an online order. Going to open a ticket with square support will report finding here later
