I see that EBT/SNAP is now available with Square, and I’m trying to figure out the best hardware setup.
I currently have a Square Stand with an iPad, and I also have a Square Handheld.
Can I simply add a Square Terminal and use the Terminal for EBT transactions? The Terminal has a customer-facing touchscreen and magstripe reader, so this seems like the easiest option.
Also, can the Square Handheld be used as the customer-facing device for EBT, while I continue using the iPad/Stand as the main POS?
Or would I need a Square Register V1 because it has a magstripe reader?
The newer Square Register V2 does not appear to have a magstripe reader, so I’m not sure how EBT cards—which are typically swiped—would work with it.
For anyone already accepting EBT/SNAP with Square, what setup are you using?
Square Stand + Terminal?
Square Stand + Handheld?
Square Register V1?
Square Register V2 with another reader?
What are my options?
