Ds6878 Scanner Powering off

Hey folks, 

I currently have a Square Register running 7.25sw with a Ds6878 scanner + cradle. The cradle is connected to the Square Hub with a splitter for power. Daily the scanner runs perfectly. But we leave the registers on overnight and when we arrive back the scanner is completely turned off and disconnected. 

To resolve the issue, we unplug it and plug it back in. Anyone else having this issue?

That definitely sounds like it could be a power/connection issue happening while everything is sitting idle overnight, especially since unplugging and reconnecting fixes it. I’d try connecting the cradle without the splitter temporarily, if possible, just to rule out the splitter or Hub connection as the culprit. I’d also double-check that the Register and scanner/cradle firmware are fully updated.

If it still happens with a direct connection, I’d reach out to Square Support because having to power-cycle it every morning definitely shouldn’t be part of the opening routine 😅 Curious if anyone else using the DS6878 has run into this too!

We couldn't find the proper powersupply for the cradle, we did find one but it was a cable with an adapter making it too long. 

Currently thr splitter separated the data and power rails. The power side connects to a USB block and provides power. This block works perfectly and it's the correct voltage. The other side (data) connects to the square hub.

Unplugging the power results in the scanner still functioning but can't charge will power off when you try.

The front desk surely doesn't like to power cycle. Lol
