Do I need a dock for my square reader or is the cable sufficient?

I am getting my first Square reader. Do I need the dock that it suggests or is just getting the charging cable good enough?

@TriciaNoll Welcome to the community. You don't really need the dock, the cable will do the same thing, plus the reader has a battery that will last up to 8 hrs. The only advantage to the dock is if you have it on a cash stand it does tilt the reader up towards the customer for easier access. The cable comes with the reader.

I never used a dock station for mine, but as @rtfulk stated it does help with quick access to use for your customers.
