I have a bunch of variable discounts; apples, cider, donuts, etc. But when a discount is applied it applies for EVERY item in the customer's cart.
I want a variable manual discount that only applies to the correct items.
IE: apple discount only applies to apples item/category, Cider discount applied to cider item/category.
When a Discount is applied to every Item in your Cart was it a $ based discount? Square from my understanding applies Dollar based discounts to the entire cart and only % discounts to an item. So what you would have to do is calculate the % discount of your Apples, Cides, donuts etc individually so that the % off is equal to your $ discount amount. I had to do this for some cosmetic earrings. Each one is $8,99 but daily sale of 3 for $20. 8.99 x 3 = $26.97 So I had to calculate that $6.97 /3 = $2.32 off of each item. or about 26% off. Then I had to test with Square to find out my actual discount because of rounding was something like 25.84%, to get the final price to 19.9999 but when rounded shows customer $20.00. This is how I had to do the discount as a % to subtract basicall 2.32 from each earring. When I tried the $2.32 off per earring I would get weird things and unexpected totals. Tried the 6.97 off and it dropped the price to 2.32 per earring, but again it applied a $ discount to all items and was confusing on the receipt. Now my receipt for the 3 earrings shows 8.99 discount 3- for $20.... discount 25.84%, But everything works out and there is not a 25.84 discount to every item.
Yes, it was a $ based discount. Unfortunately, I can't do a % discount because sometimes the $ discount is different per customer. Depending on the situation depends on the dollar amount discount.
I understand I wish I could have Retail and Wholesale pricing options. The other option would be to click the Item and then choose Price Adjustment, but that relies on your staff to remeber to manually adjust this at the time of the sale unfortunately.
