Is there a list somewhere of USB barcode scanners that are compatible with the Square Register?

Any of these read a bar code on a phone? I have clients that purchased an e gift card and my square purchased Bar code scanner will not read the phone

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble scanning gift cards. It sounds like you're also using a Square Register, which would be why the gift cards are not scanning, as this is currently a iOS only feature. I'll continue to pass this feedback onto our team, as I understand how cumbersome it is to manually enter gift card numbers!
I have the DS6878 and the DS2208. The DS2208 is similar to the LS2208 except the DS version reads 2D and 1D barcodes.
The DS6878 is a USB to Cradle then Cradle wirelessly to the Scanner and is also a 2D scanner. Both the scanners I have can read barcodes off of a Cell phone usually.
Things to check:
These are just a few things to check before thinking it is automatically your scanner. I have already taken pictures of my barcodes that I know work then displayed them on my cell phone to see if the scanner reads the barcode.
The issue is with the actual scanner, it will not read a gift card scan unless it is printed and we are scanning the paper. It will not read the scan off the phone screen.
We purchased the scanner that square offers. It has been fantastic for inventory. What scanner does Square recommend we purchase to read a digital gift card?
Hey there @Groompella stepping in for @Arie, to confirm what application on the Register are you using.
Not sure I understand your question As far as application. Im using the square register, the bar code scanner is used for retail product and if a client has a E gift card, which is typically presented on their phone. my bar code scanner (purchased from square) will not read a bar code from a phone.
I now have two square registers and would like to have a second bar code scanner but Do Not want to spend 120 dollars on a scanner that will not do what I need it to do.
On the Square Register, we offer Appointments, Retail, and Restaurants, which application on the register is being used? I would take a look at some of the tips @Candlestore provided above and see if that helps resolve the issue at all.
If you are continuing to run into this it's worth reaching out to Customer Support and reporting this to them. They will need to know details like what app you are using, the version, and the brand of scanner. If needed they can file a ticket, something we cannot do here in the community.
