A couple months ago, our cash drawer suddenly started opening really slow after a transaction is made and a customer pays with cash. We enter how much they gave us, and then have to wait a while before the cash drawer will pop open--its a long delay. It never did this before, used to pop open right away. It is frustrating when we have to wait and there is a line and the customer is standing there awkwardly waiting.
When we do the 'test cash drawer' function in settings, it pops out right away, so this is something linked to the transactions and a recent square issue.

It's interesting to hear that you're not encountering the same issue with cash drawer tests. This might be related to recent upgrades to the checkout flow, which introduced additional stages when processing a payment: 'Recording Payment', 'Processing', and 'Payment Recorded'.
After checking with my team for similar reports, it seems there's a known issue with this specific flow when a cash payment is selected. Sellers are experiencing delays that are meant to account for payment processing, which shouldn't apply to a cash payment.
From what I understand, there are plans to address this issue in the upcoming app update, scheduled to be released at the end of the month. I'll keep an eye out for more information and let you know if there are any further updates we can share in the meantime.

After revisiting the matter with my team, I'm glad to inform you that we've confirmed the fix is slated to roll out in the upcoming app version 6.44, scheduled for release on May 29th.
I do apologize for these further delays. Our team has been diligently working to expedite the fix, but unfortunately, it missed the cutoff for the most recent update.

Are there any updates on this issue? It seems to be popping out even slower lately and you mentioned there was supposed to be an update rolled out end of April and now its almost end of May.
