Can I use Square Terminal to mark a purchase for pick-up?

We host an event where the items purchased are picked up at the end of the day. All purchases are made via our Square Terminal. Historically, people have presented their receipts to pick up their items. We would like to see if the Square Order Manager can improve this process, but to kick it all off, we would need to mark a purchase is for pick-up in the Terminal as part of the purchase/payment process.

 

I have read the information on the Square website, and it doesn't specifically mention Terminal. Looking at the Order configuration screen on the Terminal, it lacks the Enable order creation option.

 

Can anyone speak to this?

I see you've already reviewed our online Support Article regarding in-person order creation. You’re correct that this option isn't available on Square Terminal devices. However, it is supported on the Square Point of Sale app using Square Register, a compatible iPad, iPhone, or Android tablet/phone.

While this feature isn't currently supported on Square Terminal devices, that doesn’t rule out future updates. I also believe the article could be clearer in highlighting the availability of this feature on different devices, so Sellers like you can easily find this information. I'll be sure to make a request with my team today.

While I can't offer a workaround for the Square Terminal itself, you might consider connecting your Square Terminal to your point of sale app to access this option. This would involve using the app on an Android or iOS device to link to the Terminal, effectively turning your Square Terminal into a dedicated customer display and checkout device.

Outside this, using the app on a compatible iOS or Android device or the Square Register is your best option.
