Can 2 different businesses operate in the same physical location using two locations in Square?

My sister and I are sharing a commercial property I own. We are two distinct and separate businesses. We have Square setup as two different locations thinking we could make this POS work for both of us, however we are running into issues with checkout and now cash drawer closeout. I open 3/17, my sister will be opening 4/3.....so we are just about out of time for fixing this. Do we need two totally separate POS or is there anyway we can make this work with one set of hardware, we already pay for the two locations.

Your assistance and ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, PKFBSC

This might work with modes https://squareup.com/help/ca/en/article/8458-use-modes-with-square-point-of-sale

But from a Square policy and legal perspective this is not advisable and may go against Square policies. Each business needs its own accounts and business records.

Additionally, you can just log out of the register and log in under a seperate account for each of you to use the POS as a seperate business.

My best suggestion is you just need to log in and out of seperate accounts if you want to use the same hardware.  It may not be the fastest, but it can be done in less than 30 seconds especially if you have the iPad store your email/password.  Maybe one of you could get by with a cheaper setup like a Square terminal, it all depends on the business.

I believe technically your locations should be ok as you can tie differ EIN and bank accounts to each location, but they are technically under one business so I still think it is better to have seperate logins for each business.
