Barcode label print order

I just got a Zebra printer to print price stickers/barcodes, but my first set of prints was in a really strange order. 

From the Square POS (on an IPad with the square stand) Inventory menu I asked it to print labels for 4 different SKUs (all variations of the same item). But it printed the labels in a random order. 

I had told it to print multiples of each SKU. (8, 7, 5, and 6) but it scrambled the individual labels. It wasn't all of one SKU then all of the next. Or even one from each in a repeating sequence. The labels came out with one or two of the labels from one SKU, then one or two from another. It wasn't the order they were added to the print request either. 

Any idea why this happened? I don't think that is as designed, it was a pain to find all the stickers for each item and I shudder to think how long it would take to find them if I'd printed a longer list with multiples.

We use a zebra from the square register and in that configuration it prints multiple labels in order- that's just damn strange.

I printed another set today. Two items with multiples. I think the sequence it did this time was one of each, in the order added to the queue, but since I only wanted two from one item and eighteen from another it meant from the top of the string of labels I had over a dozen of one item then suddenly for the last four the two items were alternating. 

But in what world would I want the items to alternate like that!?

I am going to check the app for the printer, maybe its a setting there. (Apple has an app rather than just traditional drivers for Zebra printers).

Okay, too opitimistic. The next set was something like, from bottom to top (aka the order it printed them)

and so on. There is literally no pattern!
