Ability to run multiple carts on the standard Square Register

It would be nice to be able to create multiple carts at the same time using the Standard Square Register so that customers could continue searching for products they would like to purchase while we move to finalize a sale for another customer.

 

At present, we would need to clear the cart... finalize the sale for the second customer, and then rescan the first customer's products again.

 

What do you think?

Thanks for reaching out to share your feedback with us!

Currently, the ability to save a cart is only available through the Square for Retail plans and allows Sellers to save the current cart to keep their line moving until the customer is ready to pay. I can see how this would be a helpful feature to have included in the standard Square Point of Sale app as well, so I can certainly pass this on to my team.

 

Another workaround I can suggest in the meantime is Open Tickets. With this free feature enabled, you can create, edit and save an order before completing a sale. Rather than selecting 'Save Cart', you will see the option to 'Save Ticket' once items have been added to a sale. An easy way to track this would be to save the customer's first name on the ticket. You can then move on to a new sale once you've saved the ticket. 

When it comes time to locate their cart, simply select the button on your point of sale that says 'Tickets' and 'View all tickets'. Click on their name, and their cart will load, ready for payment, or to add additional items.

I'll give this a try. We have also gone out and purchased a Square Terminal (no space to add another Register), however, to use a barcode scanner we had to purchase the hub and all those cables.

 

It would have been so nice if the Terminal worked with a Bluetooth barcode reader.

Hi, 

 

Is it at all possible, to have seperate staff transaction carts, so that whilst one transaction is part way through, another staff member could log in to their profile and have a fresh cart whilst the other one is saved?

I recently answered this question for another Seller using the Square Register, but the same applies to the Square Point of Sale app on all devices.
